Pratik Gandhi embarks on a North American journey with screenings at TIFF, IFFA Calgary, and CSAFF
Pratik Gandhi, one of India’s most versatile and acclaimed actors, is set to make a significant mark on the international stage this September with the screening of three of his most powerful works across Canada and the United States.
On 6th September, Gandhi—Hansal Mehta’s ambitious biopic series in which Pratik plays Mahatma Gandhi—will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Adding to the occasion, Pratik’s wife and acclaimed theatre actor Bhamini Oza Gandhi, who portrays Kasturba Gandhi in the series, will also be present at the premiere. Their on-screen pairing as Mahatma and Kasturba brings an authentic and intimate dimension to the narrative, and together they will represent the project on this prestigious global stage.
Following TIFF, Pratik will travel to Calgary for the India Film Festival of Alberta (IFFA) 2025, where his critically acclaimed film Phule will be screened on September 14th. In the film, Pratik steps into the role of social reformer Jyotirao Phule, bringing to life the legacy of one of India’s most progressive visionaries.
Rounding off this international tour, Pratik will head to the United States, where Ghamaasan will be showcased at the Chicago South Asian Film Festival (CSAFF) on September 20th. This political and philosophical drama further underscores Pratik’s range and his ability to delve into layered, complex characters.
Reflecting on this journey, Pratik Gandhi shared:
“It’s an incredible honour to see my work travel across continents. Gandhi & Phule, as stories are deeply rooted in our history and society, yet their themes connect universally. Ghamasaan, on the other hand, takes us to the country's heartland with a tense rural thriller that focuses on the rise of a young nation still negotiating with its past. I am truly excited to share these stories with audiences in Canada and the US, and to see how they resonate across cultures.”
With back-to-back international screenings, Pratik Gandhi continues to cement his reputation as one of India’s most compelling actors, bringing stories of reform, resilience, and human spirit to audiences worldwide.
