The Narmada Story Director Zaigham Imam, meets Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav; the film celebrates the state’s talent, women in policing, and cultural heritage. Bhopal, 10 Jun 2026: The Director of the upcoming Hindi feature film The Narmada Story , Director Zaigham Imam, met the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Mohan Yadav, and shared insights about the film’s vision, production journey and its deep connection with the state. The meeting was attended by the film’s director Zaigham Imam along with actor Sharad Singh, who briefed the Chief Minister about the story, its themes and the extensive contribution of Madhya Pradesh to the project. Shot entirely in Madhya Pradesh, The Narmada Story showcases the state not merely as a backdrop but as an integral part of the narrative. From its landscapes and towns to its people and culture, the film captures the essence of the region with authenticity. In a significant move, the makers have also cast several local artists from Madhya Pradesh in important supporting and character roles, providing a platform for homegrown talent alongside established performers. The film features National Award-winning actor Raghubir Yadav, Mukesh Tiwari, Ishteyak Khan, Sadanand Patil, and IPS officer-turned-actor Simala Prasad, all of whom trace their roots to different cities of Madhya Pradesh. The film also holds special emotional significance as it marks the final screen appearance of legendary theatre personality Alok Chatterjee, one of the most respected names in Madhya Pradesh’s cultural and performing arts landscape. The Narmada Story stands apart for several reasons. It is perhaps one of the first mainstream Hindi films to place such strong emphasis on artists from Madhya Pradesh across its cast. The film also retains the real names of cities and locations from the state, adding an uncommon level of realism to the storytelling. Another notable aspect is its portrayal of a tribal woman police officer in a powerful central role—an uncommon representation in mainstream Indian cinema. Beyond its crime-thriller narrative, the film is also a tribute to the courage, commitment and resilience of women police officers in Madhya Pradesh. Through its protagonist, the story highlights the challenges and responsibilities faced by women in uniform while remaining rooted in human emotions and social realities. The film additionally opens a conversation around the preservation of the sacred Narmada River, often referred to as the lifeline of Madhya Pradesh. By weaving environmental and social concerns into its narrative, the film aims to create awareness while remaining engaging and entertaining. Speaking about the meeting, director Zaigham Imam said: “I am deeply grateful to Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav ji for taking the time to meet us and for encouraging our efforts. Filming in Madhya Pradesh has been a wonderful experience. The state is a treasure trove of art, culture and heritage, while also emerging as a leader in modern development and industry. We truly believe that the beauty, diversity and spirit of Madhya Pradesh have been captured magnificently in our film. Through The Narmada Story, audiences across the country will get an opportunity to witness the state’s richness and character on the big screen.” The makers believe that The Narmada Story will not only entertain audiences but also showcase Madhya Pradesh’s artistic strength, cultural identity and social spirit to viewers across India. AB Infosoft Creation and Golden Ratio’s “The Narmada Story” stars Simala Prasad, Anjali Patil and Ashwini Kalsekar in pivotal roles. They are joined by veteran actors Zarina Wahab, Raghubir Yadav, Mukesh Tiwari, Sharad Singh and Ishteyak Khan in significant roles. The film is set to release in cinemas across India this Friday, June 12.
