The series will be headlined with the fresh pair of Karan Wahi and Surbhi Jyoti and feature 8 new songs. The project marks the writing and directorial debut for Shaalien Malhotra, who is known for his prowess in front of the camera. The series is jointly directed by Shaalien and Suyyash Rai. Seven and a Half Dates is an eight-episode modern romance about opposites colliding in the digital age. Aadar, a punctual, obsessive app creator, and Aaina, a carefree, chaotic late-night RJ, stumble into each other through a dating app error. What begins as awkward banter soon unravels into late-night rooftops, playful debates, painful silences, and rain-soaked confrontations. Through ghosting, self-reflection, and rediscovery, they both confront their fears of intimacy, trust, and imperfection. In the end, they realize that love doesn’t thrive in control or chaos alone — but in the fragile space where the two meet. Karan Wahi, who plays the role of Aadar, said, “What truly drew me to this show were my friends, who are also the makers of it. Working with friends is always special, but being directed by them was a completely new and exciting experience. More than anything, it was the writing that connected with me as it doesn’t feel like I’m playing a character, it feels like I’m living a real person who speaks and feels the way people do today. I’ve always loved the rom-com space, so getting to explore it again was genuinely fun. What also makes Seven and a Half Dates unique is that it has eight songs across eight episodes, which gives the storytelling a very fresh and different feel. Overall, it was a complete win-win experience for me.” Surbhi Jyoti, who plays the role of Aaina, said, "What excited me most about this project was seeing my friends - Shaalien and Suyyash - explore different creative paths within the industry. From acting to writing, singing, and directing, I truly admire their passion and willingness to take risks creatively. I believed in their vision from the beginning and wanted to support them in bringing this story to life. The script felt simple, honest, and relatable, and working alongside close friends, including Karan, made the experience even more special. I’m genuinely happy to be a part of Seven and a Half Dates".
