Chakori Dwivedi on writing 'Jee Liya' for Tu Yaa Main: "I wanted the lyrics to feel like a quiet exhale" Multifaceted actor-lyricist Chakori Dwivedi is riding high on the overwhelming response to ‘Jee Liya’, the evocative track from the Bollywood film Tu Yaa Main, starring Adarsh Gourav and Shanaya Kapoor. Continuing to carve a unique space for herself in the entertainment industry, Chakori has collaborated with Adarsh Gourav on the song as its lyricist, with music composed by Adarsh Gourav and Aditya N. Reflecting contemporary romance through its understated warmth and emotional honesty, the track has struck a chord with young audiences across digital platforms, quickly emerging as a Gen Z romance anthem, while also making its presence felt at live showcases such as the recently concluded Kala Ghoda Arts Festival. ‘Jee Liya’ is a romantic track, presents a refreshing take on emotional intimacy. The song appears at a pivotal moment in the narrative, subtly underscoring the evolving relationship between the two lead characters, played by Adarsh Gourav and Shanaya Kapoor. The beautiful lyrics reflect love in a more honest, lived-in form. Chakori Dwivedi’s writing moves away from dramatic, filmy expressions and instead leans into simple, heartfelt emotion, adding depth to the characters’ journey and strengthening the emotional arc of the story. By capturing love through small moments, personal freedom, comfort, and vulnerability, the song adds an intimate layer to the narrative, making the relationship feel authentic and relatable. Its warmth has resonated with listeners, finding a natural place in late-night playlists, long drives, and Valentine’s season moods. Speaking about her creative process and her experience collaborating with Adarsh Gourav on the song, Chakori Dwivedi shares, “My actor friend, Dheer Hira recommended me to Adarsh. Adarsh and I had collaborated on an independent track earlier, and when he approached me with Jee Liya, he had a clear emotional core in mind, which gave me a beautiful starting point as a writer. The process involved a lot of exploration and fine-tuning, but what really stood out was the creative freedom and trust he extended to me. Once the song came together, the director, Bejoy Nambiar, heard it and instantly connected with it. He loved the lyrics and felt they added emotional depth to the narrative, and that’s when he decided to include the track in the film and also asked for a duet version, which eventually became part of the album. I didn’t want the lyrics to feel loud or performative; I wanted them to feel like a quiet exhale, like the relief of finally allowing yourself to feel something without fear.” She further added, “It’s been really special to see people connect with the lyrics and make the song their own. When you write from a personal, honest place, you always hope it resonates with someone out there, but the love ‘Jee Liya’ has received has been overwhelming in the best way. Knowing that listeners are falling in love with the words, finding their own meanings in them, and carrying the song into their everyday moments makes the entire journey incredibly fulfilling.” Wearing multiple creative hats, Chakori Dwivedi continues to balance her career as both an actor and a lyricist. Her writing credits include acclaimed shows like Netflix’s Class and Amazon Prime Video’s Ziddi Girls. As an actor, she has been seen in JioHotstar’s Home Shanti and Amazon Prime Video’s Agra Affair, and will next appear in Aamir Khan Productions’ upcoming film Ek Din, slated for release on May 1. With ‘Jee Liya’ striking a chord with audiences ahead of the film’s release on February 13, Chakori continues to strengthen her presence as a promising creative talent in the Hindi film and streaming space. --
