SIAM Organises Road Safety Walk with Delhi Traffic Police for School Children as Part of National Road Safety Month
~ Over 1,200 School Students Participated in SIAM’s Road Safety Walk
New Delhi, January 16, 2026: As part of National Road Safety Month (1–31 January), the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), in association with the Delhi Traffic Police, successfully organised a Road Safety Walk at the Delhi Traffic Police Training Park, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, to promote road safety awareness and responsible road behaviour among young minds.
The walk commenced from the Delhi Traffic Police Training Park, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, proceeded up to the Connaught Place Circle, and concluded back at the Delhi Traffic Police Training Park. The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 1,200 school children from various schools across Delhi, along with over 100 followers of Bhram Kumari’s, who were sensitised on traffic rules, road discipline and the importance of following road regulations to help create safer roads.
The Road Safety Walk was flagged off by Mr. Satyavir Katara, Additional Commissioner of Police, Delhi Traffic Police, along with Mr. Prashant K. Banerjee, Executive Director, SIAM, and other dignitaries.
The program was conducted under SIAM’s ‘सुरक्षित सफर (Safe Journey)’ initiative, which continues to drive impactful road safety education initiatives with strong CSR support from SIAM member companies.
On this occasion, Chief Guest, Mr. Satyavir Katara, Additional Commissioner of Police, Delhi Traffic Police, said, “Creating awareness about road safety at a young age is one of the most effective ways to build a culture of responsible road use. When children understand traffic rules and safe behaviour at an early age, they grow up to become more conscious and disciplined road users. SIAM’s initiative through the Road Safety Walk is a commendable effort that reinforces these values and strongly supports the efforts of enforcement agencies in making our roads safer.”
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Prashant K Banerjee, Executive Director, SIAM, said, “Building a strong road safety culture begins with early awareness and education. Through the ‘सुरक्षित सफर’ initiative, SIAM along with its members, has been consistently working towards improving road safety outcomes across the country. Initiatives such as the Road Safety Walk are aimed at sensitising school students and the Road users about the importance of traffic rules, mutual respect, and responsible behaviour on the road.
