Pharma launches “Angdaan Mahadaan” to inspire 1 crore Indians to pledge for
organ donation
A nationwide movement to turn awareness into action and
encourage Indians to Pledge for organ donation as the ultimate gift of life.
New
Delhi, 2nd September 2026: In a step
towards addressing India’s critical need for organ donors, Mankind Pharma
Limited (“Mankind Pharma” or “Mankind”), one of India’s leading
pharmaceutical companies, has launched its nationwide public awareness campaign
“Angdaan Mahadaan”, with a goal of inspiring 1 Crore Indians to pledge for
organ donation.
The campaign
was launched in the presence of transplant specialists and dignitaries from the
National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO), who came together to
raise public awareness, dispel myths and highlight the transformative impact of
organ donation. Through “Angdaan Mahadaan”, Mankind Pharma aims to create
greater awareness, address myths and misconceptions, and motivate millions of
Indians to turn public awareness into meaningful action. Thousands of patients are waiting for life-saving organ transplants. For
many, an organ transplant is the only chance to survive or live a healthier
life. Unfortunately, the demand for organs far exceeds the number of available
donors.
By choosing to become an organ donor, you can offer
hope, restore health, and give someone a second chance at life.
The
initiative seeks to take the conversation around organ donation beyond
hospitals and healthcare institutions and into homes, families and communities
across India, encouraging people to make a conscious decision today that could
give someone a second chance at life.
The campaign
was launched at an Organ Donation Awareness Event hosted by Mankind Pharma, engaging
more than 25,000 Mankindians, their families and extended communities. The
event featured sessions on the realities of organ donation, myths and facts
surrounding transplantation, and the current organ donation landscape in India.
The event
brought together Dr. D.S. Ray, Chief Nephrologist and Head, Renal Transplant
Programme, R N Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences, Narayana
Health, Kolkata; Dr. Abhideep Chaudhary, Chairman and HOD, HPB Surgery and
Liver Transplantation, BLK-Max Super Speciality Hospital, New Delhi; and Dr.
Kanika Rastogi, National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO), New
Delhi to raise public awareness about the importance of organ donation.
“To give is
to live beyond yourself. Through Angdaan Mahadaan, we want to inspire people
across India to recognise the extraordinary power of a simple decision: the
decision to give someone another chance at life. Our ambition is to motivate 1
crore Indians to pledge for organ donation and make this a movement that
creates a lasting legacy of hope,” said Rajeev Juneja, Vice Chairman and
Managing Director, Mankind Pharma Ltd.
The campaign
encourages every Indian to take a simple but powerful step: pledge to donate
organs and inspire others to do the same. The ambition is clear: 1 crore
pledges, 1 crore acts of hope and a nationwide movement to give life. Indians
can register their pledge through the National Organ and Tissue Transplant
Organisation (NOTTO) at https://notto.mohfw.gov.in/donor-pledge
Through
“Angdaan Mahadaan”, Mankind Pharma aims to build a culture where organ donation
becomes a conversation in every home and a conscious choice for every
individual, because the greatest gift we can leave behind is not what we own,
but by pledging to become an organ
donor today we can Live Beyond our Life.
Angdaan
Mahadaan: Pledge. Inspire. Save Lives.
