PepsiCo India’s Pune Plant Completes 25 Years, Marking a Milestone in the Company’s India Growth Journey National, 18 August 2026: PepsiCo India, a leading snacks and beverages company, today, marked 25 years of operations at its Pune manufacturing facility. Backed by over INR 600 crore in investment during this period, the plant reflects PepsiCo’s ‘In India, For India’ commitment, evolving into a key manufacturing hub with an annual production capacity of 62,100 tonnes. Established in 2001, the 15-acre facility manufactures Lay’s, Kurkure, Cheetos, Solid Masti and Uncle Chips, serving consumers primarily across west and south India. The facility stands as a powerful example of the PepsiCo’s Partnership of Progress philosophy, created through decades of collaboration with farmers, communities, employees, industry partners and the Government of Maharashtra to drive shared economic growth. It enables approximately 1,400 individuals through direct and indirect employment, reflecting a strong culture of employee continuity and experience. It also contributes to the growth of local suppliers, ancillary industries and the wider manufacturing ecosystem in Maharashtra. Jagrut Kotecha, Chief Executive Officer, PepsiCo India & South Asia, on the occasion, said: “Pune has been a cornerstone of PepsiCo India’s growth journey for 25 years. As our second food manufacturing plant in India, the facility has grown six-fold in capacity, while supporting nearly 1,400 livelihoods through direct and indirect employment. Over the years, Pune has also been a plant of firsts for PepsiCo India from the country’s first automated palletization system and digital potato auto-grading to pioneering water-recovery technologies that have significantly reduced water consumption. Since 2022, the facility has operated as a Zero Liquid Discharge plant, demonstrating how innovation and sustainability can come together to create lasting impact. At the heart of this journey has been our Partnership for Progress philosophy and the strength of our collaboration with farmers, communities, employees and industry partners. As Pune celebrates 25 years, it stands as a testament to our long-term commitment to India, local manufacturing and building a more innovative, resilient and sustainable future.” Strengthening Farmer Prosperity Through Long-Term Partnerships: PepsiCo India's success in Pune is closely linked to the strength of its agricultural ecosystem. PepsiCo India partners with hundreds of farmers from Maharashtra, sourcing raw materials for its Pune plant, improving crop yield quality and promoting regenerative farming practices. It has achieved 100% micro-irrigation adoption across its dedicated potato-growing partner farms in key states, including Maharashtra, and Gujarat.
