From World-Class Technicians to Powerful Performers, The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj includes Bhumi Satish Pednekkar as Belawadi Mallamma*
The cast of The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj continues to grow, making one of Indian cinema's most ambitious historical films even bigger. From acclaimed actors to globally recognised technicians, the film has steadily been assembling an extraordinary team.
Adding to the film's powerful ensemble is actress Bhumi Satish Pednekkar, who has officially come on board the magnum opus. We have exclusively learnt that Bhumi will essay the role of Belawadi Mallamma, the fearless warrior queen remembered for her courage and unwavering spirit. Her addition further strengthens an already stellar cast led by Rishab Shetty as the legendary warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, alongside Arjun Rampal, Vivek Oberoi, and an ensemble of celebrated performers.
Expressing her excitement about joining the film, Bhumi Satish Pednekkar said: "I'm deeply honoured to be part of the first-ever Indian cinematic spectacle of this scale on the life and legacy of the great Maratha warrior-king, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. It’s a privilege for me to play Karnataka’s brave warrior queen Belawadi Mallamma and to bring her to life on screen. I am a huge “Kantara” fan, and the stunning performance by Rishab Shetty blew me away; hence, the moment Sandeep narrated the film, the actor in me instantly said yes. This is unlike anything I've done before, and I'm grateful to the makers for seeing me in a completely new light."
Directed and produced by Sandeep Singh, The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is being mounted on a monumental scale and is envisioned as one of the biggest cinematic spectacles ever made on the life of the legendary Maratha warrior king.
Planned as a two-part saga, the film is penned by Rishi Virmani, with music by Amit Trivedi and lyrics by National Award-winning lyricist Prasoon Joshi. Backed by an ever-expanding lineup of acclaimed actors and globally recognised technicians, the magnum opus is scheduled to go on floors later this year, with extensive pre-production already underway to bring this historic vision to life.
